Silversea Circumnavigation

Silversea Cruises is continuing to grow its presence in Australasian waters, with confirmation that its 2011 Down Under program will include a 30-day circumnavigation of Australia.

It’s not clear at this stage which Silversea ship will undertake the voyage, with the upcoming Silver Spirit to debut on 23 December,  bringing the fleet to six ultraluxury all-suite vessels.

Yesterday Silversea launched its 2010 Voyage Atlas, which for the first time carries pricing in Australian dollars.

Regional Director Karen Christensen says the programs reflect a new ‘Best Available Fares’ capacity controlled pricing policy, which sees the lowest fares offered initially, ramping up as departures fill.

“We want to reward guests who make a commitment early,” she said, with globally consistent pricing also a feature of the itineraries.

15% of Silversea’s business now comes from Australia, with other intriguing figures released showing that the line has a 50% repeat customer rate - while of those new to Silversea, 16% have never cruised before.

Christensen said the current environment was seeing a strong response to Silversea’s all inclusive product which now offers butler service in all suites, complimentary premium alcohol and champagne and more destination options.

Silversea will visit all seven continents in its 2010 program, with expedition ship Prince Albert seeing strong demand for both Arctic and Antarctic trips.

Silver Spirit will be Silversea’s largest ship, with capacity for 540 guests, and will include more dining options and a large spa and pool deck.
